The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India entrance exam held annually for students seeking admissions to various engineering colleges in the country. JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations are the two different stages of JEE. For undergraduate admissions to IIT – (Indian Institute of Technology ), NIT – (National Institutes of Technology) , CFTI – (Centrally Funded Technical Institutes of Technology). Based on the parameters listed below as set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) JEE aspirants should meet the following requirements to be eligible for appearing in the entrance exam.
Candidates applying for JEE should have passed their Class 12 from a recognized state or central board with PCB and English as their main or an equivalent exam. Students appearing for their Class 12 board exam can also apply for JEE entrance exam.
There is no age limit applicable for candidates appearing for JEE exams.
The candidate should have secured minimum marks of 75% aggregate in class 12 board or equivalent exam. If the candidate belongs to SC/ST category a minimum marks of 65% should be obtained to become eligible.
A candidate can appear for JEE Main entrance exam for 3 consecutive years. The exam is conducted twice yearly and both can be attempted by the students.
Both Indian and foreign students can apply for JEE.

1. Are there any notable changes in JEE Main 2020?
There are a few amendments concerning application and examination.
- Application fee has been changed
- The application fee can be paid online only, using credit/debit/net banking/ UPI methods
- Paper 2 of JEE Main will be separate for B. Arch and B. Plan.
- Drawing segment in B.Plan has been replaced with questions on planning.
- B.Arch candidates must have scored 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths. And a minimum aggregate percentage of 50%.
2. How many exam centres are there for JEE main?
There were 264 exam centres in India previously. However, the exam centres have been reduced to 233 in the country and 09 exam centres abroad.
3. JEE Main vs JEE Advanced -What are the differences?
JEE Main is the eligibility test for appearing in JEE Advanced, which eventually leads to admission in the IITs. JEE Advanced allows you to get admission in NITs.
4. I don’t know anything about the online exam. Can you help?
Schools and colleges will conduct practice online exams with computer and internet facilities. You can register online for the same and attend practice sessions.
5. How to improve my speed for JEE main?
Since the exam is conducted online, you must be well versed with answering questions on the computer quickly. This will aid you in attending maximum questions correctly. Try to attend mock tests as much as possible. It will help you in performing better during the main exam.
6. I am thinking of attempting the exam twice. Which mark will be considered for admission?
You can appear for the exam twice. The higher mark will be considered for admission.
7. Is Aadhar number a prerequisite for applying for JEE?
No. You can use any of your photo IDs, viz. driving license, voters ID etc.
8. When will the admit card be available?
The admit card for JEE main 2020, for April session will be available from 16 July 2020, tentatively.
9. Where can I join after qualifying JEE main?
There are 25 IITs, 31 NITs and 28 CFTIs to join if you succeed in qualifying the exam with high rank.
10. Do I need to upload my passport size photo for the online application?
Yes. You need to upload scanned copies of your recent photograph and signature during applying for JEE.
